Tips for Leveraging Corporate Sponsorships at the 2009 American Association of Museums' Annual Conference and MuseumExpo

John Davidoff, Davidoff Communications, joined a panel of museum experts at the 2009 American Association of Museums’ Annual Conference in Philadelphia to deliver to participants “75 Winning Ideas in 75 Minutes”.  Hosted by Charles Katzenmeyer , Vice President for External Affairs, Adler Planetarium & Astronomy Museum, Chicago, IL, the panel also included Mary Beth Armbruster, Director of Membership, Denver Museum of Nature & Science, Denver, CO; Willard White, Senior Consultant and Co-Leader, Arts & Culture Practice Group, Marts & Lundy, Inc., Lyndhurst, NJ and Jennifer Burch, Associate Vice President of Development, The Children's Museum of Indianapolis, Indianapolis, IN.

The goal of the session was to provide participants with innovative development and membership ideas that could be successfully implemented in any museum.  Each panelist offered 20-25 actionable ideas in their particular area of expertise.  John Davidoff presented 25 new ideas for strengthening and enlivening corporate sponsorship programs and initiatives.  Other panelists presented ideas to improve membership, development and visitor experience.  Following the presentation group discussions offered participants the opportunity to network, discuss challenges and better discern how to implement these creative ideas at their respective institutions.  Charles Katzenmeyer announced at the beginning of the session that it was his goal for participants to walk away with 10 solid ideas that they felt they could immediately put into action.  Participant response during and after the session indicated that the panel delivered on its goal.
